Israeli campers are now neater litterbugs...
it used to be that they just threw trash everywhere.
now, they are putting the trash in bags and leaving the bags everywhere.
I'm all for a little improvement in the situations.
but they seriously need a lesson from 1970's america...we had a pretty successful anti-litter campaign.
"give a hoot, don't pollute"
"don't be a litter-bug"
they need to attack the problem by creating a community culture of non-tolerance of litter in the parks -- ad campaign, cool mascot, prizes for kids who collect garbage, etc.
in addition, the parks need to set up enough trash receptacles that people don't have to walk too far to get to one. and they need to be cleaned out pretty regularly during high traffic seasons like passover.
maybe it will get even better next year.
