chiggers and ticks...
chiggers and ticks...
I'm gonna get me some chiggers and ticks!
[remember the old kibbles n' bits commercial?]
yep. I think I got a chigger bite at bonnaroo. right at my hairline between my ear and my face, where sideburns would start if I had them.
kinda makes sense since chiggers will just dig in when they run into an obstacle and tend to like hair folicles.
I'd never heard of chiggers before going to TN...don't have them where I live. But my friend was telling me on thursday night about them and got me all freaked out.
when I got home, I decided to find out a little more. of course, the itchy bump on my face that hurts pretty bad probably had more influence on my decision to do some research.
I'm not quite sure yet whether I was bit by a chigger, a tick, or (more likely) a spider. gotta give it a few days to figure out if it is getting worse or better.
tea tree oil is my friend.
other than that, the swelling went down in my feet. 2 entire days standing ankle deep in mud pruned my feet beyond anything I'd ever seen before. Not surprising I would take on some water. But I'm glad I can see my ankle bones again.
pillows under the feet are my friends.
still have little or no voice. especially difficult is that I have to talk in class, but I sound like a goose. I hope things are back to normal by next week.
tea with honey is my friend.
the only thing I think could have been improved about bonnaroo is if CAKE played. The Hackensaw Boys were there (and were AWESOME), and they had toured with CAKE, and I can't imagine that CAKE would give up the chance to play to 90K people. maybe they got scared off by the chiggers and ticks??? I can only hope that they can do it next year, whether in TN or VT (do they have chiggers and ticks in VT?). I know gabe and vince would love it.
John McCrea is my (fr)iend.
